Quest for information about my guitar.

Postby Augustus » Wed Aug 26, 2015 3:13 pm

Does anyone have information about my guitar?

It's a 1993 Bourgeois JOM serial number 000019. Adirondack Spruce top, Indian Rosewood back and sides.

I've had the guitar for eight years, the person I bought it from had it for ten years,
I wonder who had it between 1993 and 1997?

The seller told me it was custom made, body bound with fiddle back Maple, ebony finger board, etc.

I'd really appreciate if anyone has any knowledge about it,
Also, at what point was Dana Bourgeois in his career in 1993?

Finally, it's a beautiful guitar!

Hello Augustus,

1993 was the first full year for the first incarnation of Bourgeois Guitars as a production shop, although Dana had been building guitars under his name for nearly 20 years prior. Unfortunately, we do not have records of those earlier guitars, and our records before 2004 are also incomplete. Your guitar was most likely the 19th produced by the shop with the modern "Bourgeois Guitars" logo!

I hope that helps a little!

Ryan, many thanks for the info' and your time. I've read somewhere that those early guitars by Dana were custom and commission built. Would be great to know who commissioned this one. Cheers

Hello Augustus. Unfortunately, we do not have organized records for the time period during which your guitar was built. Given the date it was manufactured, it was most likely not a privately commissioned guitar. However, it could very well have been custom ordered through a dealer to someone's specs! We are glad you enjoy the instrument!
